Middle And Older Age Men Should Be Using Male Skin Products
I have a confession to make regarding male skin products – I didn’t ever bother using them! Now my deep facial wrinkles are a pain in the you know where?
So why is it that mid to older age men don’t use male skin products? I guess we didn’t really think about skin care and were ignorant of skin degradation issues, and the consequences of skin cell damage particularly dry skin and deep wrinkle formation.
As it happens I have been a golfer for 50 years exposing myself to the very hot sun and intense UV sunrays. It’s only been in the last 25 years that I applied sunscreen and wore a golf cap regularly.
Up until 4 months ago I didn’t ever use any facial skin cream other than sun block out cream. I had very dry and sometimes-itchy skin, large bloated sagging bags under my eyes. Deep wrinkles besides my eyes that run around and under my bags with 2 lines on each cheek running all the way down to join my mouth lines, completing their journey at my sagging jowls.
It’s not a pretty sight; I believe it made me look 10 years older, tired and unhealthy looking. I exercise and am reasonably fit for my age, don’t smoke, eat properly and rarely drink alcohol. Yet my skin ages me badly.
Five months ago I started researching ways to improve my skin without having botox or collagen injections or other types of invasive procedures. I was going to try and find the best skin creme for men I could find that might help me improve my skin.
Now not knowing much about skin creams at the time, and being a bit skeptical in my old age led me to discard most of the products I looked at initially. Honestly, the Internet is great for information and there are some good sites. But, on the other hand some of the crap they dish up to us with dodgy advertising never ceases to amaze me.
My research convinced me there was little merit or benefit in using cosmetic, chemical and synthetic based products that included petroleum, parabens and other substances I couldn’t even pronounce. So I narrowed it down to only natural products with all natural ingredients.
Finally, I settled on a product line from a small New Zealand company that has been regarded as a leader in supplying the best and most active natural substances in their range of supplements for over 9 years. They released their all-natural skin care line about 9 months ago.
What impressed me about their site and products is that it’s all there to see and read. They list all their men and women’s skin care range, itemize each ingredient then explain in detail what it is and what it does. Some ingredients are unique and not available yet to most large manufacturers.
I have been using their active day cream, restorative night cream, eye contour gel and active body lotion for 12 weeks now every day. I have to say I’m surprised and pleased with the results to date. The sagging bags under my eyes are about 40% reduced.
My deep wrinkles have improved and changed shape because the skin has thickened and plumped out a little because of the re-growth of collagen and elastin proteins. I don’t expect to get rid of them completely, but they improve each day.
The wrinkle improvement, plus the moisturizing, nourishing and hydrating of my skin has made a big difference to its texture, smoothness and look. I now look my age and maybe even a little younger and the skin is certainly healthier.
I have written this article in the hope some of you middle and older aged men become more aware of looking after your skin and using male skin products. Don’t let your skin deteriorate to the level mine was only 3 months ago through ignorance about male skin care.
