Reguarding last question; My son’s on his 2nd tour,(marine), and it doesn’t get any easier, how do you all get
thru it? I just don’t let him know how hard it is, because he worries about me and his wife. What do you say to a deployed marine, besides stay safe, send love,and support,?(and lots of pkgs.)
That’s all you can do. My brother was in the Marines and did 3 tours in Iraq. (which were all during the WORST of the war). He liked to get news papers and what not that had news from his hometown 
) I know that always helped. Other than that, there isn’t much, you’re doing all you can. When you talk/write letters/email, always be sure to be positive and up beat. His mood is effected by YOURS and how you protray your time spend without him.
We always felt bad shopping during Christmas b/c he was over there in the worst of it, but I told him that in a letter once and his response was “Have fun shopping and enjoying your freedom, because I am over here fighting for it. I’m taking the worst for our country so you can have the freedom you do.”
