iPhone: Boom or Bust?
The reviews were positive overall and everyone waited anxiously to give it a try despite the high price tag. When the iPhone arrived, it was to mixed reviews. Some users were ecstatic, and others were disappointed. So what’s the bottom line on the iPhone?
Living Up to Expectations
The iPhone lived up to the expectations of many. The touch screen and internet features are excellent. Pictures and videos are startlingly clear and the large screen makes it fun to play with all kinds of movies and music. All of the features flowed together well, and the iPhone seems like all it was cracked up to be. That is until the first calls come in.
Nothing’s Perfect
There is no such thing as a perfect electronic anything. There will always be bugs and there will always be something that can be done better. That being said, for a high dollar mobile phone, the iPhone certainly left much to be desired for many, primarily businesspeople.
The actual phone features are weak and the audio quality was less than desirable. Text messaging and email are difficult with the virtual keyboard and even with the autocorrect feature; messages are hard to send in any format. In short, the iPhone is no better than more basic phone products already on the market in regard to basic functions.
Needless to say, many business people were disappointed. Apple has been known for years to create excellent business products, and such a high-end product performing so close to the average on the most basic features was a huge letdown.
The Bottom Line
Of course, many of the features of the iPhone are so new and cutting edge nobody else is doing them – yet. So for now, even if there are a few glitches, the iPhone is ahead of the game in almost all aspects. Those who have moved beyond the basic phone and messaging features of a handheld have few complaints about the iPhone. After all, the advanced graphics and media capabilities are outstanding by almost any standard.
However, those who are more focused on basic services of a mobile phone such as phone calls, email and text messaging may not be rushing to store to get the iPhone – at least not yet.
A Bright Future for iPhone
Fortunately for highly connected business people and Apple who targets this customer market, there is plenty being done to revamp and improve the iPhone. In fact, the first round of updates has just been released. Many of the updates deal heavily with security although there have been a few other modifications made. It is only a matter of time before Apple, well known for leading the pack in cutting edge products, fine-tunes the iPhone into an absolute must-have for everyone.
